Thank you so much for your interest in the Kensington School and for visiting our website to learn more about our offerings. I am delighted to be the Director of The Kensington School. It has been a dream to provide a quality early childhood development program to our future leaders!
The Kensington School will combine the best aspects of a Montessori education with an emphasis on teaching children the skills they will need in the 21st Century so that they can enter elementary school ready to succeed. The Kensington School will update Montessori concepts for the 21st Century, integrate technology, and draw on best-practices from current brain-based research. I know that some parents are unfamiliar with the Montessori model and some who have knowledge of the Montessori model may have some reservations about it. However, we hope that you will give us an opportunity to discuss the educational philosophy and approach of The Kensington School with you.
My husband and I live right here in Sugar Land and we are both passionate teachers. I was fortunate enough to graduate with a Bachelor degree in Education and with two Masters degrees – one in Teaching and one in Education. I have nearly 10 years of experience in education and began my career as an elementary school teacher. I have also trained other teachers, worked as a consultant for a non-profit early childhood education center, and developed curriculum for a chain of private childcare centers. My background in early childhood and elementary teaching allows us to create a customized academic program based on your child’s specific needs.
I strongly believe in parent engagement and fostering a sense of community among families, staff, and students, so we will be providing a number of family and community engagement activities and workshops such as ‘DIY: Do It Yourself Montessori Activities for the home’, reading circles, and community service activities such as book and food drives.
I welcome you to call or email us to schedule a tour of our facility. We also offer parent information sessions on a regular basis so we welcome you to call or email to find out the schedule of upcoming parent information sessions. Oftentimes, we can even offer a tour to parents who drop in, but we would encourage you to schedule a visit. We are confident that whenever you come in for a visit, you will see our immense passion for education and for the success of your children. We look forward to partnering with you!
"Now, what really makes a teacher is love for the human child; for it is love that transforms the social duty of the educator into the higher consciousness of a mission."
-- Maria Montessori (1870 - 1952)
